Your TV Source

Your TV source is the device that provides your TV programming, for example:

... and so on. To use a TV source with your Slingbox, generally you'll disconnect the TV source from your TV, and reconnect it to your Slingbox. How the TV source signal gets back to your TV depends on the Slingbox model that you're using. Some models feature "pass-through" designs, which means that they have both input and output connectors. You connect your TV source to the input connectors, then use the supplied cables to hook up your TV to the Slingbox output connectors. The signal "passes through" the Slingbox.

Other Slingbox models don't have pass-through connectors, so you need to use alternate connections. For example, if your TV source is connected to your TV via RCA (red/white/yellow) connectors, then you might use the coaxial or S-video outputs to connect your TV source to your Slingbox. (Just remember: if you use S-video or red/green/blue component cables, you need to also connect a second set of red/white audio cables to your Slingbox, or there won't be any sound. S-video and component connections don't contain sound. Coaxial connections do.)
