With a Slingbox, you're not just watching your TV anywhere ... you're watching and controlling your TV anywhere! SlingPlayer, the software you use to watch your Slingbox, features SlingRemote: an onscreen, photo-realistic image of the actual remote control that you use with your TV source. So if you use a TiVo DVR at home, then SlingPlayer will display the exact remote control for that TiVo. If you subscribe to Dish Network, and the satellite set-top box is your TV source, then you'll see an exact replica of that DishTV remote control on your screen.
When you move your mouse pointer over the buttons for that remote control, the available buttons both highlight and display a tooltip describing their function. (If a button displays neither highlighting, nor a tooltip, then it's not applicable for use with SlingPlayer or your Slingbox.)
While SlingRemote can display the remote control images for more than 6,000 different TVs, DVRs, cable boxes, satellite boxes, VCRs, and other devices, there's a small possibility that a remote control image isn't available for the device that you're using. In that case, the SlingRemote feature displays an image of a generic remote control. While this generic remote control image doesn't match your actual remote control, it should give you just about all of the functionality.
